Golf Swing Training Aids: How to Improve Your Game

By: Joan Yankowitz

If you are an enthusiastic golfer, you are undoubtedly always looking for great golf swing training aids to improve your game.

When you're having trouble, your swing can result in 'fat shots' and 'off center shots' that may ruin your game.

But improving your golf swing does not need to be hard. In fact, by just making some very slight adjustments to your setup, you'll be able to really perfect your swing. The setup is one of the simplest and quickest ways to boost your game.

You'll know that you need to improve your setup if you are having any of these issues:

- Repeatedly hitting behind the ball
- Having a frustrating hook or slice
- Frequently hitting the top of the ball

If you have any of these issues, changing your setup may be extremely beneficial. You may realize that the setup you're now using is causing the problem, or that you are compensating for another problem.

It does not really matter, because what you'll find is that you can greatly improve your golf swing by getting back to basics and mastering a good setup.

Golf Swing Training Aids for a Good Setup

- Make certain that you are well-balanced by keeping your feet shoulder length apart. If it's very windy, however, place your feet slightly further apart.

- Keep the toes of your left foot straight in front of you. A beginner golfer often points the left foot to the left.

- It's also vital to confirm that the ball is positioned in the center of your feet.

- Your knees should feel firm and steady, but not locked. A good tip is to relax your knees by gently bouncing them to make certain that they're steady, but flexible.

- Ensure that your back is straight. This can be another aspect of the setup that may be overlooked when you're out on the course, so it may be useful to take a moment to consciously consider the position of your back.

- Extend your arms to full stretch, making certain that the club is directly in front of you. Then lower the head of the club while keeping it parallel to the ground.

- Bend at the hips until the head of the club meets the ground. Remember, this is often the only time that you must use your hips. You'll find it helpful to practice the action of lowering your club in slow motion, so you are aware of your movements.

- The setup is only one part of the golf swing, but it's the first and most fundamental step in achieving a good swing. These golf swing training aids can help you achieve a better setup, which will greatly improve your golf swing.
