The continent of Antarctica is truly unique, with its breathtaking beauty it still can be incredibly ruthless to anyone who tries to dominate it. War has never touched this pristine continent, keeping it pure. However, even though Antarctica encompasses a larger area than the United States and Europe together, violent deaths are more common that those by natural causes, as the temperatures are too low to accommodate most germs. The contrast in the living environment is remarkable. Hostile political forces work together without conflict in a warm environment, while outside the 100 below zero temperatures could very quickly freeze their blood. People who live in Antarctica never need to worry about gaining weight. They can consume four hearty meals a day and never gain an ounce. This is do to the fact that the extreme cold uses up more calories than the body could on any diet. During the summer months, Antarctica is bathed in endless sunlight, which gives way to what is known as the "big eye", an insomnia condition that plagues most residents, as they struggle to sleep in the bright light of day. Bombastically the people who live in the Antarctic claim the rights to being part of the 300 Degree Club. At the South Pole, on the continent of Antarctica, lies the least expensive, southernmost bar on the globe where residents can drink cognac, 12-year-old scotch, or beer for the same price, but the nightly bar tab can still grow to an enormous amount. The nights are extremely long between the months of April and September. A shield of moving ice over 9000 feet long moves across the heartland. Ironically, this sheet of ice may have enough oil, coal, and gas to warm the world as a whole. Lacking most laws, ones that it does have is quite peculiar, not a single fugitive could be arrested. If capable of surviving such harsh environments and temperatures a criminal would have massive valleys and mountain ranges to hide in. Even so, Antarctica has the smallest crime rate of any country or nation out there. This continent might be considered the best place to commit the perfect crime, as if someone has ever killed anyone, they've never been prosecuted for it. Even if someone knew about the murder, there are no extradition treaties or statutes that could be used to charge or prosecute the murderer. Even though more than ten nations work in the Antarctic, no one actually owns any of the continent. No colonization of this primitive land has occurred on any permanent basis, but there is a plethora of the most advanced scientific instruments available, and there are computer systems at the Pole. Even though the residents here only stay for a short time, they have the highest IQ per person on this planet. This continent proudly boasts more degrees than high school diplomas. Not only does it have more talented scientists than most universities, it continues to be the center of more peaceful R & D studies than most world capitals. This southern land is the only place where firing nuclear bombs is completely restricted. The laws that Antarctica does have are incredibly strict environmental laws. A century ago the land and sea were bloody from the slaughter done by seal and whale hunters; today a special license is required before any animal life is killed. Antarctica is home to the scientific motherlode: a strictly peaceful place to perform scientific research that benefits all of us.
